This role supports the accounting function related to reconciliation, close process, and financial operations. As Amazon grows at over 30% year‑over‑year, the position will drive process changes and improvements to meet the expanding needs of the company. Responsibilities include leasing/finance reporting, asset addition to sub‑ledger, and managing a large portfolio of technology assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the successful completion of close activities, ranging from data entry and ledger entry to deliverables review.
  • Prepare and review complex account reconciliations, financial analyses, and deliverables.
  • Act independently to lead and complete projects with complex objectives.
  • Understand relevant accounting principles and communicate the application of GAAP to peers and business partners.
  • Identify and execute projects and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Report into a Finance Manager and collaborate with central accounting, finance operations, and global financial teams to control month‑end accounting and reporting activities.
  • Support all aspects of financial accounting, reporting systems, procedures, and policies, and manage the department’s response to internal and external audit requirements while ensuring SOX compliance for all geographies and activities handled by Shared Services.
  • Promote systems/process development within the department to ensure ongoing efficiency and control improvements.
  • Perform month‑end activities including closing of sub‑ledgers, general ledger account reconciliations, reporting, and balance sheet account analysis.
  • Ensure financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place, documented, and operating as intended.
  • Provide responses to internal and external audit requirements and maintain compliance with SOX requirements for all geographies and activities.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance controls and quality of reconciliations and related processes. Build and monitor performance metrics, focusing on timely delivery of month‑end reports, reconciliations, and other deliverables.
  • Maintain monthly communications and metrics reporting with Director and VP‑level business partners in finance operations, central accounting, and FOAA, and actively participate in strategic initiatives and special projects when assigned or required.
Basic Qualifications
  • CA with 5‑6 years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of standard software including Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase/Smartview.
  • Experience in corporate finance, including budgeting, planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Experience using data to influence business decisions.
  • Experience creating process improvements with automation and analysis.
  • Experience in month‑end closing of books of accounts, working on various sub‑ledgers, and balance sheet reconciliation.

  • Decision‑making and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Experience in problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • 5+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects that scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
