Construction Safety Engineer – RINA

RINA is currently recruiting for a Construction Safety Engineer to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.

Mission

The role focuses on ensuring the safety of construction operations in the infrastructure environment, such as the construction site’s safety processes, equipment, workers, and more, in cooperation with the Principal Engineer.

Key Accountabilities
  • Identify, assess and mitigate safety construction risks, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, identify potential hazards, develop and drive implementation of corrective actions, and prepare technical reports.
  • Assist in developing project‑specific safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses, report findings, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Verify safety training for construction personnel, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Verify or develop emergency response plans for each construction site.
  • Perform or verify risk assessments for various construction activities and propose control measures.
  • Verify proper use, maintenance, and availability of safety equipment and PPE.
  • Provide direct day‑to‑day support and oversight of project elements.
  • Team‑work and assist engineers or engineering teams on construction sites.
  • Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under supervision.
  • Prepare or verify technical deliverables and progress reports.
  • Ensure all activities are executed in accordance with RINA QMS.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction and Environment or Civil Engineering.

Experience

Proven experience in construction safety management, with a track record of identifying, assessing, and mitigating safety risks on construction sites. Experience in developing and implementing safety programs and conducting safety training is required.

Knowledge

Thorough understanding of relevant safety regulations and industry standards such as OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc. Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods, and equipment. Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and emergency response procedures.

English

Good level in speaking, listening, and writing.
