Reporting to the Head of Distribution, the Broker Relationship Manager will be responsible for managing and expanding client and broker relationships, supporting the achievement of business plans, and improving broker interaction to drive business retention and growth. This role involves working closely with underwriting, claims, and operations teams to ensure the profitability and strategic alignment of clients and brokers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strengthen and expand the quality and depth of relationships with important brokers and clients.
  • Develop structured engagement plans and use analytics to drive strategic understanding and performance.
  • Create and maintain relationship matrices reflecting broker relations.
  • Build and maintain external relationships across all LOBs.
  • Develop and monitor broker performance metrics and reports.
  • Provide regular updates to broker partners on product, appetite, and results.
  • Ensure broker remuneration and acquisition ratios are at targeted levels.
  • Develop and execute strategies for retention and business development in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Set client and broker priorities and focus areas, including specific business development initiatives.
  • Understand broker business strategies and portfolios to create and build alignment with strategic plans.
  • Drive the strategic process of identifying and developing new and alternative distribution channels.
  • Identify and manage cross-sell opportunities with new and existing clients.
  • Contribute to the development of new products and distribution models.
  • Support the achievement of desired retention ratios, premium growth, and profitability targets.
  • Manage expenses within budgeted levels, including marketing and event budgets.
  • Monitor the implementation of business plans and broker performance against targets.
  • Work effectively within the European Distribution Team and manage internal relationships across departments.
  • Represent the company at relevant insurance market events and informal functions.
  • Maintain high-level broker contacts and facilitate senior management meetings.
  • Promote the sharing of best practices and ensure consistency in broker management standards.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements and demonstrate compliance with company values.
  • Assist in the preparation of broker and client meetings, including materials and quarterly reviews.
  • Provide insights, trends, and strategies through MI reporting and analytics.

  • Sound understanding of broker working models, strategies, and constraints.
  • Capability in producing and managing challenging broker development plans.
  • Proficiency in PC and technological tools, with Salesforce being an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in business development or account management in any sector.
  • Understanding of strategic objectives and how to deliver these through operational plans.
