Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (Santander CIB) is looking for an Associate to join our Export & Agency Finance Team in Milan. You’ll be part of a dynamic team that works with top corporate clients on transactions supported by Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) and Multilateral Agencies. Santander CIB is the global leader in Export & Agency Finance, giving you the opportunity to work on landmark international deals and collaborate with experts worldwide.

To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:

• Manage and develop a portfolio of corporate clients, helping them identify ECA/MLA‑backed financing solutions tailored to their needs.
• Originate new business opportunities, both inbound and outbound.
• Prepare client presentations, term sheets, and preliminary documentation.
• Lead the internal approval process, from drafting papers to presenting to committees.
• Collaborate with structuring teams in Madrid and origination teams across Santander’s global network.
• Maintain an active relationship with SACE and other ECAs and MLAs to identify new opportunities and support ongoing negotiations.

What You’ll Bring

Professional Experience

• ~5 years in similar roles within banks, financial institutions, or ECAs/MLA – ideally in sales or structured finance. (Required)

Education

• Master’s degree (with excellent results) in Finance, Economics, or a related field. (Required)

Languages

• Fluent English and Italian. (Required)
• Spanish is a plus. (Preferred)

Hard Skills

• Professional background in export finance, structured and/or project finance transactions, with knowledge of the related documentation. (Required)
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint. (Required)

Soft Skills

• Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking. (Required)
• Commercially driven, proactive, results‑oriented, and comfortable working both independently and in a team. (Required)
