Responsibilities
- Operate manual grinding machinery including surface, cylindrical, and bore grinders.
- Produce one-off and small batch precision components to tight tolerances.
- Work from engineering drawings and job cards.
- Use measuring tools to inspect and ensure accuracy.
- Operate additional manual machines such as lathes and mills.

Salary: £18 per hour
Location: Aldershot, Hampshire
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, Day Shift (e.g. 07:30–16:00 with early finish Friday)
A well-established precision engineering company based in Aldershot is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist / Toolroom Engineer with strong grinding experience. This is a superb opportunity to join a long-standing, stable business producing complex, low-volume components for high-spec industries including aerospace, defence and motorsport.
As a recruitment partner to this business, we’re helping them identify a capable, hands‑on machinist with a strong grounding in surface, cylindrical or bore grinding.
- Monday to Friday day shift
- Early Friday finish
- 1.3x overtime pay (Monday–Friday)
- 1.5x overtime pay (Saturday–Sunday)
- Secure, permanent role within a stable company
- Varied work on low-volume, high-precision components
- Operate manual grinding machinery including:
- Surface grinders
- Cylindrical grinders
- Bore/internal grinders
- Produce one‑off and small batch precision components to tight tolerances
- Work from engineering drawings and job cards
- Use measuring tools (micrometers, gauges etc.) to inspect and ensure accuracy
- Operate additional manual machines such as lathes and mills as required
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet customer specs and deadlines
- Proven experience in manual machining and precision grinding
- Strong skills in surface, cylindrical and internal grinding
- Comfortable working to fine tolerances from technical drawings
- Self‑sufficient, accurate and methodical approach to work
- Apprentice‑trained or qualified by experience in an engineering environment
