Job summary

We are pleased, following further fixed term investment, to recruit a full time band 7 post into our DBT-A service. Whittington Health has been providing the DBT-A service for over 2 years, offering high-quality and intensive therapeutic work for young people presenting with significant emotional dysregulation.

DBT is an evidence-based treatment for individuals with recurrent self-harm and emotional dysregulation, and will be included in the upcoming updated NICE guidelines for managing self-harm in children and young people. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician to join our team and contribute to developing a new, innovative service. The CAMHS DBT service will deliver the full DBT programme, including weekly individual therapy, group sessions, family sessions, care coordination, and telephone coaching. The team will hold a caseload of up to 20-25 young people.

Clinicians will offer the full range of DBT interventions to a small caseload of 5-10 young people, as per their job plan.

Main duties of the job

DBT experience is not essential; however, experience in therapeutic work with young people and risk management is desirable. If not already trained, full DBT training will be provided, along with a supportive environment. The service will receive consultation and support from the National & Specialist CAMHS DBT service during its development to ensure adherence to the DBT model and clinical skill consolidation. Candidates should have experience working therapeutically with young people, risk management, and inter-agency liaison.
