Job description
Job Summary

We are looking for a suitably qualified physiotherapist or occupational therapist to join the Hand Therapy team at UCLH, a leading Foundation Trust in central London. You will work with a dedicated team of clinicians and support staff, delivering and improving hand therapy services for Orthopaedic and Rheumatology patients.

Responsibilities
  • Carry and manage a caseload of Orthopaedic and Rheumatology patients, providing evidence‑based hand therapy interventions.
  • Collaborate with the clinical lead to deliver, coordinate and evaluate the Hand Therapy service, ensuring compliance with local and national guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for the operational management of the team, supporting and supervising less experienced physiotherapy staff.
  • Implement, facilitate and develop best practice hand therapy protocols, including splinting techniques and rehabilitation plans.
  • Engage in education and training activities for allied health and medical colleagues, contributing to the continuous professional development of the department.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of CPD requirements and relevant legislation, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Qualified physiotherapist or occupational therapist with significant NHS hand therapy experience.
  • Proven experience in Orthopaedics and Rheumatology, with a range of clinical reasoning and rehabilitation skills appropriate to the caseload, including splinting.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and knowledge of current legislation governing physiotherapy and occupational therapy practice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work flexibly, and a demonstrated capacity to train and supervise junior staff.
