Learning Disability Nursing is a very rewarding career!

You will be joining the learning disability nursing workforce at a very exciting time of progress and development. Within NHS GGC, learning disability nurses will work either within inpatient or community services.

The role of a Learning Disability Nurse is to support individuals and their families to ensure health needs are met and individuals are able to reach their potential and live meaningful lives.

As a Learning Disability Nurse, you will work across the lifespan. Our population has a diverse range of health needs from early diagnosis to end-of-life care. You will play a vital and unique role working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a healthcare setting. You will contribute to:

• Assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating holistic, person-centred care.
• Reducing health inequalities of people with learning disabilities.
• Reducing barriers to health and care services to promote an individual’s wellbeing.
• Supporting people with a learning disability to live a fulfilling life.
