The Buried Services Manager will take ownership of all underground utilities and buried services across the site, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant delivery of design, installation, and coordination of services (water, gas, telecoms, power, drainage, etc.). You will act as the primary interface between civil works, design teams, construction leads, and subcontractors.

• Develop and maintain a buried services strategy and delivery plan aligned to the project programme.
• Lead design-coordination workshops across civil, MEP, and utilities disciplines to resolve clashes and optimise service layouts.
• Oversee the procurement, installation, and commissioning of buried services (water, gas, power, drainage, telecoms).
• Manage interfaces between utilities subcontractors and civil works contractors.
• Ensure all buried services work is compliant with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with buried services (e.g., service clashes, site constraints, changes to design).
• Maintain and update a buried services register (location, status, risk) for the duration of the project.
• Coordinate with health & safety teams to ensure all excavations, trenching, and reinstatement are carried out safely.
• Manage and track costs, progress, and programme for all buried services activity.
• Provide regular reports and updates to the project management and senior leadership teams.

Essential:

• Engineering or construction management background, preferably in civil / utilities / buried services.
• Minimum of 7-10 years' experience managing buried services or utilities on major infrastructure / civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of underground utilities design, installation techniques, construction sequencing, and safety.
• Excellent coordination, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Experience with risk management (design risks, service conflicts, safety).
• Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and subcontractors.
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance for utilities work (e.g., water, power, drainage).
• Proficient in relevant design and project management software (e.g., CAD, BIM coordination, MS Project, Cost Control).

Desirable:

• Previous experience on nuclear or highly regulated infrastructure projects.
• Experience with 3D clash detection / BIM for buried services.
• Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., Civil Engineering degree, NEBOSH, Utilities-specific certification).
