Dr Claus Jorgensen, Group Leader of the Systems Oncology Group, is seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to join his team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated, innovative, and organized individual to contribute to cutting-edge research in a dynamic laboratory.

The Systems Oncology Group aims to understand how the tumour microenvironment and desmoplastic reaction influence tumour cell function and therapeutic response in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. We have identified a novel target involved in tumour-microenvironment interactions, which may serve as a future therapeutic target.

The successful candidate will characterise this target's role in regulating tumour and host cells and their interactions. Responsibilities include conducting in vitro cell biology assays, biochemical assays for cell signalling, functional CRISPR screening, and mass spectrometry analysis in 2D and 3D models. Tumour models will be analyzed via immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, proteomics, genomics, and transcriptional profiling, alongside testing combination treatments using in vivo models (see Hutton et al Cancer Cell 2021, Lee et al Nat Comm 2021, Below et al Nat Mat 2022). This project is ideal for a collaborative individual eager to make an impact in a challenging cancer type.

You should hold a PhD in biochemistry, cancer biology, cell biology, immunology, or a related discipline. Experience in protein biochemistry, cell signalling analysis, and cancer in vitro models is essential. Experience with in vivo tumour models and immunology is desirable. Key qualities include independent thinking, teamwork, and strong communication skills, vital for working effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
