Sling Money leverages blockchain technology to transfer in any currency almost instantaneously for a negligible fee. We’re in 140+ countries and the app is available in the Android and iOS app stores. Sling Money is an Avian Labs, Inc. product, created by builders and engineers from Monzo, Square, Cash App, etc.

We are seeking a talented and experienced financial Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of financial management and accounting principles. They will oversee and manage all accounting functions, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, provide strategic financial insights, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal person will have extensive experience in accounting and a deep understanding of GAAP, experience in multi-jurisdictional accounting and managing external partners, and strong leadership skills to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in a fast-paced fintech environment.

• Lead the monthly close process and reporting process, including multi-entity consolidations and preparation of accurate and timely financial reports.
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
• Lead the implementation of a group ERP system and develop and implement accounting policies, internal controls and procedures.
• Assist our external stakeholders with preparation of GAAP compliant financial statements and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee annual audits and regulatory filings, liaising with auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders to ensure full compliance.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including accountants, partners, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
• Contribute cross-functionally to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to proactively identify risks and opportunities in the blockchain and crypto industry.

• 7+ years of experience in accounting with a focus on financial reporting in a multi-entity consolidation, preferably in the fintech, crypto or financial services industries.
• CPA or ACCA certification required.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in managing audits and collaborating with external auditors.
• Strong analytical skills with a high degree of precision and attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
• Excellent Excel and Google Sheets skills.
• Proficiency in financial management software such as QuickBooks and Xero.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to haves:

• Experience in a high-growth startup environment.

• Experience with the MTL application process is a plus.
