A Local Authority in the United Kingdom seeks a qualified Habilitation Specialist to support children and young people with vision impairment. You will assess, implement, and review training programs while maintaining professional development. Candidates should hold relevant qualifications and have experience working with children aged 0–25. This is a dynamic role requiring significant travel and a commitment to inclusion.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Habilitation Specialist to join Staffordshire Vision Inclusion Team supporting Children and Young People from 0-25 across Staffordshire. You will be supporting vision impaired /blind students as part of the Specialist Teaching Support Service.
Our large centrally based Vision Inclusion Team consists of Specialist Teachers, Communication Support Workers, Mobility Officers (1.6FTE), a VI Role Model, and an ICT Support Technician. We support children and young people 0-25 with a vision loss in a variety of settings including homes, nurseries, mainstream schools, colleges, and specialist provision. We maintain a strong commitment to multi‑agency working, inclusive education, high standards of attainment, and quality of life experiences for all our pupils.
You’ll need:
This role involves significant travel covering a large county area in all weather conditions, handling specialist equipment, and delivering practical habilitation training, so resilience and adaptability are key. This is a rewarding role where you can truly make a difference.
