Job summary
A forward-thinking housing organization based in Hemel Hempstead seeks a Trainee Assistant Accountant to join their team on a permanent basis. The role involves supporting the production of financial information, maintaining fixed asset records, and ensuring accuracy in finance procedures. Candidates should have strong Microsoft Excel skills and a desire to provide excellent customer experiences, although prior work in accounting is not mandatory. The position offers full-time hours with one day in the office weekly.
Qualifications
- Proven ability to deliver against key objectives or potential to develop skills.
- Work experience in a similar accounting or finance role is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Support production of financial statements and accounts.
- Record fixed asset additions and maintain the fixed asset register.
- Update finance procedure documentation.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Trainee Assistant Accountant to join our team on a permanent basis.
This role will support the production of timely, accurate, and high-quality financial information, including but not limited to, annual financial statements, monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts, balance sheet and control account reconciliations.
The postholder will also support the Finance Business Partner – Asset & Property Services in delivering an effective, commercially focused, efficient, and professional finance business partnering service.
You will be required to work in the office one day per week.
- Recording fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation within the fixed asset register and general ledger
- Maintaining the fixed asset register to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Maintaining and updating finance procedure documentation
- Able to demonstrate a proven ability to deliver against key objectives, or a strong foundation of skills and experience with the potential to develop and meet the full requirements of the role.
- Passionate about delivering an excellent customer experience.
- Work experience in a similar accounting or finance role is desirable.
- Beneficial if working towards an AAT qualification; if not, we are happy to support your studies.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
