Job summary

Overview

Our youth hubs and casework are transformative for young refugees, enabling them to find community, connection, and support. We are seeking an experienced finance professional to ensure Young Roots continues delivering life‑changing support.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the go‑to finance expert, maintaining day‑to‑day operations and translating complex financial data into accessible insights for teams and leadership.
  • Manage month‑end processes, statutory accounts (in line with Charity SORP) and cash‑flow forecasting.
  • Prepare funder reporting and ensure financial integrity through robust systems and controls.
  • Partner with the organisation to support effective budget management, shape future initiatives and maximise impact for young refugees and asylum seekers.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in charity finance, independently managing month‑end processes, statutory accounts and grant funding.
  • Accounting qualification (AAT Level 4, ACCA/CIMA full‑ or part‑qualified, or equivalent by experience).
  • Hands‑on experience with accounting systems such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.
  • Strong ability to communicate financial information to non‑finance audiences and work confidently with senior stakeholders.
  • Motivated by supporting our mission and able to thrive in a hybrid, team‑based environment.

Salary & Hours

Permanent role, 21‑35 hours per week (0.6‑1.0 FTE). Hybrid; two days in one of our London offices. Salary £40,973‑£45,199 per annum pro‑rata.
