Position Summary
This is an important, strategic role in the implementation of public relations programmes designed to create and maintain a favourable public image for the organisation. The Media Relations Executive should be a communications and public relations professional, capable of assisting in directing projects and project teams, and producing content of the highest calibre. The position may focus on any of several professional areas, including media and influencer relations, storytelling, press tours, PR agency relations and event support and staffing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support in executing strategies to secure impactful media coverage for Royal Caribbean International, subject matter experts, products & services, and events, including pitching and engaging reporters, facilitating media interviews and support for executivesBuild and maintain key professional relationships with significant media outlets and key journalistsSupport in directing the activities of external agencies and internal teams as neededIndependently develop and execute appropriate strategies to address communications challengesOversee significant communications programmes, which may include promotions, press trips, press conferences, executive briefingsHandle incoming media inquiries and responsesCreate innovative approaches to generating coverage in the media, draft press releases, talking points and statementsTrack press coverage and write coverage reports analysing the output and success of media relations efforts.Plan and implement group and individual press trips and liaise with appropriate personnel on requestsStay abreast of latest industry developments, trends, and shifts in the travel industryPartners with leadership on budget/expense control and reporting, department and/or brand relatedOccasional travelWhat we’d love you to have:
5-7 years of PR agency, public relations, journalism or corporate communications experienceBachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferredExperience with media relationsStrong skills in pitching and comfortable reaching out to top tier mediaFlexibility to work outside normal hours and travel as appropriate (domestic & international)Experience in travel industry and working for a global company preferredStrong ability to interact with senior leaders and build effective relationships within the company, public, guests and mediaStrong planning capabilities to identify and prioritise communication strategies and activities as well as to meet the deadlines required to support media and business needsStrong writing skills – message creation experience a plusUnderstanding of social media, influencers and emerging media with a wealth of creative ideasFinger on the pulse - always up to date with trends, both inside and outside our industryOutstanding English language proficiency. Proficiency in Spanish desirable
Work Environment:
The role may include travel to other offices, as well as domestic, international, and shipboard travel. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations.
