Head of Promotions - Music Festivals

Our client is a next-generation live entertainment company rooted in African culture and global storytelling, known for culturally defining events including a flagship music festival celebrating African and urban genres such as Afrobeats, Amapiano, R&B, and Hip Hop. The festival unites the African diaspora and celebrates diversity through music, food, fashion, and art, attracting a large European audience annually.

They aim to build experiences that move people emotionally, physically, and globally, and are assembling a world-class team to shape the future of live festivals, content, and branded culture.

As they expand, they seek a Head of Promotions to drive the strategic and financial success of their event portfolio, ensuring profitability, cultural relevance, and high demand.

The Role: Head of Promotions

The Head of Promotions will oversee a diverse portfolio of ticketed events, leading a team of senior, junior, and regional promoters to drive revenue growth, audience expansion, and brand positioning. This highly strategic, commercially focused leadership role requires expertise in event curation, ticketing strategy, pricing, sponsorship, and multi-market expansion.

Experience:

  • 10+ years in live event promotions, talent booking, or ticketing strategy, with a proven track record of scaling events profitably.
  • Experience managing multi-city or international event portfolios.
  • Ability to lead data-driven ticketing and pricing strategies.
  • Strong industry relationships with talent agencies, ticketing platforms, and brand partners.
  • Leadership experience managing high-performing teams across multiple locations.
  • Exceptional financial skills including P&L management, sales forecasting, and revenue optimization.
  • Experience with major promoters like Live Nation, AEG, or leading independents.
  • Understanding of sponsorship integration and brand activations.
  • Experience expanding event brands into new markets or launching new festivals.
  • Knowledge of global music trends, cultural movements, and emerging audience behaviors.

Success in this role means:

  • Maximizing event profitability through strategic forecasting, pricing, and data-driven sales tactics.
  • Driving market expansion, talent strategy, and audience growth via industry relationships and insights.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing team of promoters, ticketing strategists, and commercial partners.
  • Shaping the future of the company's event portfolio to align with long-term growth, mission, and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Owns the long-term strategic vision for the event portfolio, ensuring financial and creative optimization.
  • Develops and executes multi-year expansion strategies, identifying new markets and audience segments.
  • Collaborates with artist booking teams to secure talent matching brand and audience demand.
  • Ensures a balanced event calendar, maximizing seasonal, locational, and demographic opportunities.

Ticketing & Pricing Strategy

  • Develops dynamic pricing models, including tiered tickets, VIP offerings, and loyalty programs.
  • Owns P&L responsibility, managing budgets and revenue targets.
  • Works with ticketing partners to optimize sales channels and customer experience.
  • Uses sales data and trends to adjust pricing and promotional efforts.

Commercial & Sponsorship Integration

  • Works with brand partnerships to integrate sponsorship activations into events.
  • Secures long-term commercial partnerships to add value beyond ticket sales.
  • Develops marketing strategies aligned with ticketing and sponsorship goals.

Market Positioning & Industry Leadership

  • Represents the company at industry events and panels.
  • Maintains understanding of consumer behavior, music trends, and competitive positioning.
