Overview

Are you ready to lead a talented team and make a real impact in manufacturing? We're looking for a Manufacturing Test Engineering (MTE) Manager to take on both technical responsibility and daily line management for our MTE team. In this role, you'll oversee the delivery of defined projects, manufacturing test support, and related work packages, while providing leadership and accountability to ensure project milestones and production support deliverables are met.

You'll also take ownership of high-value business projects, driving productivity, cost savings, and capacity improvements within the production test systems arena. Additionally, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of the team by defining and executing plans to develop the necessary skill sets within the Manufacturing Test Engineering group.

GE Aerospace is a global leader in jet engines, components, and integrated systems for commercial, military, business, and general aviation. The Cheltenham facility specialises in advanced aircraft power distribution and avionics systems. It supports design, development, manufacturing, and aftermarket services for leading aerospace manufacturers in civilian and military sectors.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Manage the wellbeing, load, capacity and execution of a team of Manufacturing Test Engineers.
  • Exercise the required supervisory responsibilities relating to PPG, career & professional development, recruitment, and training.
  • Actively drive for team development and growth, promote a culture of Continuous Improvement and data / analytical led decision making through the application of specific KPI's and FLIGHT DECK tools.
  • Act as a mentor for junior MTE's.
  • Ensure right sized support structure to support all in service test equipment to achieve delivery commitments, deliver safe and ergonomic test systems and validated test process specifications to ensure integrity of design is met.
  • Assess technical debt associated with all test equipment, work alongside TE sustainment group to resolve open concerns
  • Develop use of maturity and risk mitigation tools such Manufacturing Readiness Level and Production Readiness Assessments. Use the data generated to drive improvement projects.
  • Be cognisant of relevant FTR reviews. Proactively assess test systems and ancillary equipment against future rate and longevity requirements.
  • Develop DFT guidelines with the MTE team for deployment to design engineering group
Required Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, tools, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Background in engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
Desirable Characteristics
  • Six Sigma certification (e.g., Green Belt, Black Belt).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Lean Manufacturing certifications.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and challenges.
