Job description
Senior Technical Engineering Manager

A leading developer and operator of advanced, AI‑focused data centres is expanding its technical operations function and seeking a Senior Technical Engineering Manager to play a key role in the leadership of its Data Centre estate.

With a hyperscale‑inspired, industrial‑scale platform, the business provides cutting‑edge, sustainable and highly secure environments for some of the world’s most demanding compute requirements. The Operations function owns the 24/7 live environment, ensuring the resilience of all critical infrastructure — from power and cooling to fire systems, cabling, maintenance, compliance and capacity planning. Working closely with every function, the team drives reliability, governance, customer confidence and 100% uptime.

We’re now looking for a senior technical leader to help shape the next phase of operational excellence.

The Role

As Senior Technical Engineering Manager, you will be the principal technical authority for all mechanical and electrical systems across the data centre estate. Supporting the Operations Director, you will provide leadership, governance and strategic direction across Data Centre Operations and the Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) partner.

This role will see you :
  • Safeguard the resilience, reliability and efficiency of critical infrastructure supporting 24/7/365 operations
  • Provide strong technical leadership across multi-disciplinary teams, driving capability, performance and continuous improvement
  • Partner with the outsourced engineering provider to deliver best‑in‑class uptime and engineering standards
  • Oversee capital and operational budgets, ensuring value, lifecycle planning and cost optimisation
  • Help shape the operational strategy across multiple facilities, aligned with future growth and industry best practice
  • Lead operational reporting, SLA / KPI performance, metrics and incident management
  • Ensure compliance, quality, safety and operational readiness at all times
  • Act as a senior escalation point during major incidents, ensuring calm, clarity and customer assurance
  • Contribute to strategic projects, risk mitigation and service improvement initiatives

This is a senior, visible position within a growing platform, with significant influence over operational direction and engineering excellence.

Who We’re Looking For
  • Strong Mechanical & Electrical qualifications and training
  • Senior leadership experience within Data Centre M&E environments
  • Strong background in data centre operations, IFM / outsourcing or large‑scale technical service
  • Experience supporting major enterprise or hyperscale clients
  • Proven success driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction
  • P&L awareness and strong budget management capability
  • Deep understanding of critical infrastructure across multiple sites
  • A collaborative, customer‑focused leadership style
  • Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills

If you’re passionate about engineering quality, operational resilience and continuous improvement, this is a role where you can have real impact.

What’s on Offer
  • Work at the forefront of AI and high‑performance computing infrastructure
  • A growing platform with meaningful opportunities for development
  • Collaborative, supportive culture with a strong focus on excellence
  • Private Medical (including dental & optical), Pension, Life Assurance & Income Protection
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • EV salary sacrifice scheme, volunteering days, mental health support and more
  • 25 days annual leave + UK bank holidays
