An international aerospace and defense company based in Rochester is seeking a Head of Engineering (Hardware/Mechanical) to provide strategic direction and lead a team of over 250 engineers. This role focuses on fostering innovation, driving excellence in execution, and ensuring alignment with ambitious business goals. Candidates should have extensive engineering leadership experience, ideally in Electronic Hardware or Mechanical Design, and be skilled in stakeholder management. Salary: £100,000+ per annum dependent on skills and experience, plus car allowance and annual bonus

This leadership role is responsible for delivering world‑class Electronics and Avionics Systems products to military and commercial customers. Our product families include Head Up Displays, Mission Computers, Head Worn Displays, Active Inceptors, Flight Control, Maritime Controls, and Aftermarket Support.
You will lead a multi‑discipline department of over 250 Engineers, including Electronic Hardware, Firmware, Mechanical Design & Analysis and Qualification. This is part of an 800–strong growing engineering department.

Many roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting where applicants must typically have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK depending on the vetting level required for the role, to allow for meaningful security vetting checks.
