Job Description:
What you will be doing
As a Senior Research Engineer/Scientist, you will be responsible for:
- Research, Development, and Innovation!
- Leading project-related activities and providing innovative solutions to challenges in the water sector in the UK and beyond.
- Maintaining an innovative outlook and curiosity for wastewater treatment technologies and solutions.
- Scanning for new technologies or strategies to address significant water sector challenges.
- Launching Research, Development, and Innovation projects and contributing technically to others.
- Designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring activities for smooth operations and high-quality outputs.
- Analyzing data (preferably using Python, MATLAB, or similar) and logging information to produce robust results, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Writing, structuring, and reviewing high-quality technical reports for stakeholders.
- Participating in and presenting project outputs at meetings.
- Developing strong working relationships with internal clients, external contractors/suppliers, and research organizations.
- Promoting R&D activities to customers and stakeholders to increase project visibility.
This is a hybrid role based at Reading Sewage Treatment Works, with attendance required at Thames Water sites as needed.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
Must have a valid UK driving license.
What you should bring to the role
- Graduate in science, engineering, or a related discipline.
- Industrial experience in a relevant field.
- Technical knowledge of utilities or similar industries.
- Practical skills relevant to operation and maintenance of pilot plants.
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
