Job description
Job summary

Are you an experienced clinician looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to join a service at a time of exciting change? Our adult ADHD service is looking for applications from highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologists to lead our psychological pathway.

This is an opportunity to shape psychological pathways for adults with ADHD as part of an overall redesign of the service. The priority for the new service is to offer a biopsychosocial approach for people diagnosed with ADHD, and prioritise psychological and social interventions as part of the Waiting Well offer for people waiting for assessments. The post holder will be responsible for developing and overseeing psychological provision in the service, alongside providing assessment and psychological interventions for people referred to the service.

We are keen to invest in the development of new practitioners joining our service to enhance their knowledge, skills, clinical practice, leadership and confidence in working in this area. We are therefore looking for applicants who either have experience in working with people with ADHD or have a good foundation of transferable skills and an interest to develop in this area.

We especially welcome applications from candidates with the valuable experience of the diverse social and cultural communities the Trust serves as we are seeking to ensure our psychology staffing has greater diversity and better represents local communities.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist who is enthusiastic about working with people with ADHD and keen to build up the psychological offer for this group.

In this role, you will complete diagnostic assessments for adults, and lead multi-disciplinary diagnostic decision making meetings. You will work closely with colleagues within the MDT as part of the diagnostic assessment pathway and in the post-diagnostic pathway.

You will be responsible for the development and implementation of post-diagnostic psychological pathways, which will include group and individual psychological therapy offers. There are exciting opportunities here to develop pathways that meet the psychological needs of adults with ADHD, from a variety of backgrounds. This role would suit someone with an interest in service development and evaluation, and experience of quality improvement.

You will be responsible for leading a small team of practitioner psychologists offering assessment and psychological intervention, ensuring safety and quality of their work. You will be able to inspire and support your colleagues within a busy service and work closely with the MDT to ensure the provision of high quality assessments and interventions for people accessing the service.

About us

We are delighted that you are interested in working with us here at CNWL. Our Trust is an exciting place to work with a wealth of opportunities available for our staff.

At CNWL we encourage our psychological professions staff to pursue leadership opportunities in senior roles. With us, you will get:
  • A Trust committed to staff personal development, with a trust wide culture change and leadership programme with staff wellbeing at its core.
  • An opportunity to work for one of the top 10 NHS employers
  • Flexible working
  • Variety of work
We encourage staff input and ideas in relation to moving services forward, improving care pathways and meeting the client group's needs.
