Job summary

A community organization in North Somerset is seeking a Young Carers Coordinator to support children with caring responsibilities. You will conduct assessments and deliver programs for young carers aged 13-18. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and experience with young people, along with an understanding of child safeguarding. Flexibility for evening work is required, and a full driving license is necessary. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young carers.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Young Carers team to support children within North Somerset, who have a caring responsibility at home.

In this Young Carers Coordinator role, you will be conducting statutory assessments, along with planning, delivering, and leading a programme of support for our senior young carers aged between 13-18 years. This will also extra trips outside our standard funding.

As one of our main referrers, you will be an important link to schools and provide advice and guidance to young carers.

Following assessment, you will provide our Young Carers with support and a break from their caring role, this is a real change to make the difference.

About you:

With experience in working with and building rapport with young people, you will have great communication skills and be able to work sensitively, understanding the impact of being a young carer.

Alongside this, you will have understand the multi-agency approach to work and understand child safeguarding.

You will have experience and confidence in planning and delivering group sessions and the ability to network with a range of stakeholders.

Flexibility around working hours will be needed as regular evening work will be required.

The successful candidate will also be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check. Due to the nature of the role, a full driving licence with your access to your own car is required or alternative transport.
