Job summary

A maritime services provider in Aberdeen is looking for a Chief Engineer to oversee yacht operations and maintenance. The ideal candidate should have over 8 years of experience in marine engineering, strong knowledge of yacht maintenance, and good communication skills in Cantonese, English, and Putonghua. Responsibilities include managing machinery operations and ensuring safety during yacht operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as Chief Engineer.
• Able to work independently on engine inspection and repair.
• Fluent in Cantonese and conversational in English and Putonghua.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Onboard the operation and management of the machinery and managing bunkering related matters; and shipboard systems inspection, maintenance and repair work, and the yacht daily cleaning duties
• Handle and maintain relevant matters and documentsdocumentation for licensing, renewal and other matters related to licenses, maintenance inspections, safety inspections and maintenance
• Assist Captain in upholding the safety of yacht operations and assisting the mooring management at The Aberdeen Marine Club
• Being prepared to respond to emergencies at sea, such as man overboard, medical emergencies, or mechanical failures

Qualifications

• Holder of Valid Engine Operator Grade 1 certificate or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 8 years’ experience as Chief Engineer
• Able to work independently on engine inspection, repair and maintenance in the machinery spaces
• Good communication skills, fluent Cantonese & conversational English and Putonghua
• Good interpersonal skills, positive mindset with strong ownership and accountability
• Good knowledge in yacht maintenance and repair, holder of first-aid certificate and lifesaving license is preferred
