Yard Operative – Ampthill – £13.50 per hour – Immediate Start

We are currently recruiting for a yard operative for our client based in Ampthill. A well-established plant hire and portable toilet company rooted in dependable service and pride.

As a Yard Operative, you’ll contribute to keeping their yard efficient, safe, and welcoming - both for their staff and customers.

What You’ll Do
  • Carry out general yard duties—loading, unloading, moving materials, and keeping the site safe and organised
  • Maintain yard cleanliness and housekeeping standards, ensuring walkways, storage areas, and equipment remain tidy and hazard-free
  • Clean and restock portable toilets, accommodation units, and re‑hires as part of daily operations
  • Report defects or maintenance issues promptly to the relevant team
  • Support smooth yard operations, including equipment preparation and cycle turnaround
Who You Are

To succeed as a Yard Operative, you should be:

  • Hard‑working, reliable, and comfortable with outdoor, hands‑on tasks in varied weather
  • Able to lift and handle materials safely and efficiently
  • Attentive to health and safety procedures, alert to hazards, and attentive to cleanliness
  • Experienced in a yard, labouring, or cleaning environment (desirable, not essential—training provided)
  • A positive team‑player with good communication skills
