Job description

SalaryCraft Pay (for Building Labourer category)
Basic salary £24,790 p.a.
Plus 50% IOA on basic salary £12,395 p.a.
Also paid tool allowance £37.93 per month?

To assist in ensuring the timely completion of works operation so as to achieve the optimum balance of customer and employee satisfaction together with achieving the Services financial objectives.

What is involved?
  • To assist in ensuring the effective and efficient management of the street lighting workshop at Meadowfield, assist also with Morrison Busty and Hackworth and in accordance with the County Council’s Policies and Procedures.
  • To organise and control resources required on a day-to-day basis for those projects assigned to the postholder.
  • To identify and plan resource requirements as necessary and liaise with the Construction Manager / Maintenance Manager (Street Lighting) and accordingly.
  • Assist in compliance with WEEE directive.
  • Keep workshop tidy and ensure access only by authorised persons.
  • To have an understanding and experience of contract procedures and to ensure compliance with contractual requirements in regards works materials and parts plus recording of non compliance.
  • To provide technical assistance to workshop personnel and workforce.
  • To maintain accurate workshop records, monitor progress and report accordingly to the Construction Manager/Maintenance Manager.
  • To ensure full compliance with Health and Safety Legislation and all statutory obligations relevant to projects and services assigned.
  • To liaise with Customers, Public Utilities and companies.
  • To assist the Construction/Maintenance Manager, and Street Lighting and Operational Support Manager in the development of the skills of the workshop personnel identifying training needs and implementing training procedures.
  • To ensure full compliance with procedures relating to the Operator’s Licence for vehicles and plant under the postholder’s control.
  • To ensure full compliance with Quality System requirements and a high standard of customer care.
  • All employees are expected to actively promote continuous improvement in service quality and to be fully involved in the implementation of quality systems and techniques.
  • To ensure security of the workshop premises and plant and test equipment.
  • Assist managers with the implementation of all calibration for all relevant tools and equipment.
  • To carry out such other duties which may be allocated from time to time, and which are commensurate with the grading of the post.
  • Ability to assist with out of hours emergency and non-planned works.

What will I need?

If successful, you will be required to undertake and pass an in-house driving assessment as part of our pre-employment checks before any offer of appointment can be confirmed.
