HGV Technician / Workshop Supervisor (Night Shift) – Newark depot

Ford and Slater are one of the UK's largest DAF Truck dealers groups with 16 locations from Norwich to Birtley in the North East, employing over 900 staff whilst remaining a family run business. We currently have a vacancy for an HGV Technician / Workshop Supervisor working on Night shift at our Newark depot.

Who we are looking for

• Previous Workshop Supervisor experience working as a Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector
• Ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship or training programme. Qualified to Level 3 (C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer’s procedures
• Sound knowledge to accurately diagnose faults
• Carry safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs
• Skills to follow company processes for completing all paperwork including accurate completion of job cards and service records
• General level of computer literacy
• Full UK driving licence
• Class 1 licence preferred
• Own tools

Role and responsibilities

• Managing a team of HGV Technicians
• Ensure workshop activities are compliant with Health and Safety legislation
• Allocate work to the Workshop and complete job cards
• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles
• Fault Diagnostics
• MOT Preparation
• Mechanical and Electrical repairs
• Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures and in a safe and responsible manner
• Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions
• Attend any technical or development training that is made available

Shift

Night shift working hours: Monday - Friday, 9:45pm to 6:45am
