Job summary

An established engineering firm in Stockport is seeking a Workshop Engineer to join its team. The role involves setting up and operating CNC machinery, conducting bench work, and building components from engineering drawings. Ideal candidates will have hands-on engineering experience and the ability to understand engineering drawings. Benefits

£13.50 - £14 per hour
Monday to Friday | 7am - 4pm
Early finish on Fridays
Overtime available (paid at enhanced rate)

Qualifications

  • Hands-on engineering experience required, either manual or CNC.
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Confidence with hand tools and workshop machinery is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Set and operate CNC machinery once programmes are loaded.
  • Conduct bench work including drilling, tapping, filing, and assembly.
  • Build tools and components from engineering drawings.
  • Work with aluminium and steel components.
  • Use manual engineering equipment effectively.
  • Clean, prepare, and assemble tooling.
  • Liaise closely with CAD/CAM engineers.
  • Work independently at the bench and support wider workshop tasks.

What will you be doing as a Workshop Engineer?

  • Building tools and components from engineering drawings
  • Working with aluminium and steel components
  • Using manual engineering equipment (lathe, drills, hand tools)
  • Cleaning, preparing, and assembling tooling
  • Liaising closely with CAD/CAM engineers
  • Working independently at the bench and supporting wider workshop tasks
