Our Workforce Advice Team is the first point of contact for all colleagues to access high quality employee relations information, advice and support. The Workforce Officer post is a crucial part of this, as they are the face of the service and provide managers and staff with timely advice when they need it, via our AskWorkforce telephone line and email inbox.

The Workforce Officer role is an entry level position and is perfect for anyone looking to develop a career in human resources. Successful candidates will be provided with training on the Trust’s Workforce policies and key employment legislation, with further opportunities for development as you work along side our team of Workforce Advisors and Business Partners. The Workforce Advice Team meets weekly to share lessons learnt from cases, undertake CPD sessions and to have general updates from across the Trust and other teams.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be the first point of contact for queries about Workforce policies and employment matters and you will use your experience of the queries we receive to help us continually develop our on-line resources.

You will be a crucial member of our ambitious and innovative team and you will have the opportunity to gain experience of how we implement our Workforce policies by providing administrative support to our Workforce Advisors and Business Partners.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Provide day to day delivery of an effective and comprehensive Workforce Advice service in accordance with agreed service standards.
  • Provide administration support to Workforce Advice Team
  • Support the team to continuously review and update processes to ensure the highest standards at all times.
  • Build strong and effective relationships with managers across the team and Trust wide.
  • Support the development of the Workforce Team in conjunction with the Workforce Strategy

Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience of using Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and ability to use other systems.
  • Experience of dealing with issues sensitively and in a confidential manner
  • Experience of taking notes at a range of different meetings
  • Experience of working in a role involving administration
Desirable criteria
  • Working knowledge of the Electronic Staff Record (ESR)
  • Recent experience of HR processes within the NHS
  • Up to date knowledge of NHS Agenda for Change Terms and conditions and application to employee queries
  • Knowledge of Workforce policies and their application to employee queries
Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
  • Good general education to tertiary level or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification in Human Resource Management
  • Associate Level CIPD Membership
