What Does a Firefighter Do?

Firefighters do more than fight fires; they respond to road traffic accidents, floods, chemical spills, and major incidents. They also focus on prevention, carrying out home fire safety assessments, checking smoke alarms, and educating the public on fire safety.

Career Progression & Salary

Complete a two-year apprenticeship to become a fully qualified Firefighter, with opportunities for promotion to Crew Manager, Watch Manager, or specialist roles.
