Job description

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to join a cross‑sector initiative focussed on improving outcomes for children and young people. The Wellbeing Coordinator will play a central role in bringing partners together across organisational boundaries to support the emotional wellbeing needs of children and young people, particularly those with complex circumstances.

We have x3 Wellbeing Coordinator positions available, with one post based in each of the local authority locality teams; Merthyr, Bridgend, and Rhondda Cynon Taff.

The successful applicant will facilitate a multi‑agency wellbeing panel that brings together professionals from health, education, local authority and other key services. Promote integrated, collaborative working and maintain strong relationships across the services to reduce inequalities and strengthen pathways for children and young people with more complex needs. This new role ensures high‑quality information sharing, decision making and follow‑up actions to champion a child‑centred approach that improves experiences and outcomes for children, young people and families in our community.

The single point of access for children's emotional wellbeing (SPACE‑Wellbeing) is a process for children and young people with mental health and emotional wellbeing concerns, where a multi‑disciplinary team makes decisions on provision for children, young people and their families to access the right support, first time, from the right person. The coordinator will provide a proactive, comprehensive administrative and clerical support function to the locality‑based multi‑disciplinary/agency team.

Working within one of the three local authority areas of Cwm Taf Morgannwg (RCT, Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil), the SPACE‑Wellbeing coordinator will be pivotal in ensuring effective integrated working in their locality area. The role often serves as the first point of contact for referrers, professionals, families/carers and other members of the child/young person's network, eliciting further information about the family's needs where referral information is limited.

Applicants who are not UK or Republic of Ireland nationals will require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care Visa or a Skilled Worker Visa unless they already hold permission to work via another route. Prospective applicants should self‑assess their eligibility for sponsorship by visiting the UK Government's Work in the UK guidance. For eligible candidates, the Health and Care Visa offers reduced application costs and exempts payment of the annual Immigration Health Surcharge. Please ensure you check your email regularly, as all recruitment correspondence will be sent to the email address provided on your application form.

Applications are welcome in either Welsh or English, with no preference given to the language used. We reserve the right to close a vacancy early or withdraw an advertisement to accommodate the redeployment of internal staff into suitable roles. All posts are subject to relevant checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service check and, where required, Professional Registration verification. We are proud to be a Living Wage Employer.
