Job description

Granite State Manufacturing (GSM) is seeking motivated Class C Welders to join our precision fabrication team on first shift.

This is an excellent opportunity for entry-level or early-career welders interested in developing their skills under the guidance of NAVSEA-certified professionals. You’ll play a critical role in producing components that support the U.S. Navy submarine program and other national defense projects.

About the Opportunity

As a Class C Welder, you’ll assist in the fabrication and welding of components under direct supervision, gaining hands-on experience with GTAW (TIG), SMAW (Stick), and GMAW (MIG) processes.

You’ll learn to read blueprints, interpret weld symbols, and apply proper welding techniques in accordance with NAVSEA 1688, EB-5341, and GSM’s internal quality procedures.

You’ll work alongside experienced Class A and B welders, performing basic fit-ups, tacking, and support operations in accordance with the production schedule (IAW schedule) while progressing toward full certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist senior welders with part fit-up, tacking, and weld prep activities.
  • Learn and perform basic welds on non-critical assemblies and fixtures.
  • Support fabrication of components using GTAW, SMAW, and GMAW processes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with GSM quality standards.
  • Keep workstations organized and adhere to all 5S and safety policies.
  • Work with Planning and Supervision to ensure jobs are completed IAW production schedule.
  • Participate in GSM’s training and qualification programs to advance to Class B and Class A welding roles.
Qualifications
  • 0–2 years of welding or fabrication experience (technical school or equivalent preferred).
  • Basic familiarity with welding safety, tools, and equipment.
  • Willingness to learn NAVSEA and EB-5341 welding requirements.
  • Ability to read and follow basic blueprints, instructions, and weld symbols.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to craftsmanship.
  • Desire to grow into a fully qualified NAVSEA-certified welder.
