The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Wayleaves Officer to work for our end client who are one of the fastest growing internet service providers in the UK. Reporting to the Project Office Manager, the Wayleaves Officer will undertake the acquisition and negotiation of land rights and carry out compensation work ensuring the timely delivery of major telecommunications FTTP projects. The company have undergone extensive growth delivering pure fibre broadband to rural areas of England and continue to expand across the UK.

Job Description

The Role

The Wayleave Officer will work closely with Planning Surveyors, Lead Planners, Project Managers and Delivery Managers to ensure cost affective routes for the implementation of telecommunications apparatus.

The Wayleave Officer Will Be Responsible For:

  • Negotiating wayleave agreements and easements and other forms of agreement in respect of FTTP Fibre/Civils/Telecommunications design and project delivery
  • Assist in the preparation of Planning Applications
  • Resolve disputes over wayleave rights, land ownership queries
  • Enforce Code Powers where necessary
  • Carry out land searches and compile and maintain accurate records of land ownership details
  • Compile and maintain accurate records and accounts of all interaction with landowners and their agents
  • Actively maintain excellent relationships with landowners, agents, consulting engineers, contractors and government bodies
  • Calculate compensation in regard to permanent easements and wayleave rentals.
  • Be conversant with relevant legislation
  • Liaise with customers, land agents, solicitors and other team members in regard to wayleave matters; on site if necessary – be prepared to travel and stay away from home for short periods
  • Negotiate land damage claims
  • Support Planning and Project department with advice and the timely delivery of consents
Qualifications

The Candidate

The ideal Wayleave Officer will have experience with the following:

  • Statutory and legislative issues relating to wayleave management including;
  • Electronic Communications Code
  • New Roads & Streets Works Act
  • Planning Act
  • Farm and rural land use practices
  • Landowner identification and registration methods
  • Wayleaves, easement and landlord’s consents
  • An understanding of route selection in a telecommunications network
  • Land searches, securing wayleaves, easement and landlord’s consents in a telecommunications environment.
  • Drafting and negotiation of; wayleave agreements, valuation of rights granted pursuant to the agreement, valuation of compensation claims and drafting schedule of condition of land.
  • Building relationships with landowners, agents, consulting engineers, contractors and government bodies Surveying
