Warehouse Supervisor – Night Shift

Overview

An experienced and hands‑on Warehouse Supervisor is required to take day‑to‑day ownership of warehouse operations on a full‑time night‑shift position. This role is very much floor‑based, acting as the main point of control for daily activity and ensuring the warehouse runs safely, efficiently, and to plan. You will be responsible for directing the team, setting daily priorities, and making sure all processes are followed correctly across picking, goods movement, and dispatch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Daily Planning
    • Lead, organise, and deploy warehouse operatives across receiving, picking, and dispatch functions.
    • Allocate workloads based on staffing levels and operational priorities.
    • Continuously monitor progress during the shift, adjusting priorities where needed to meet deadlines.
    • Ensure clear communication at shift changeovers and maintain consistency between supervisory cover.
  • Warehouse Operations
    • Oversee picking activities to ensure materials and components are selected accurately for production and dispatch requirements.
    • Manage the safe and efficient loading and unloading of inbound and outbound vehicles, ensuring loads are secure and paperwork is completed correctly.
    • Ensure all incoming goods are stored correctly in line with agreed locations and stock control procedures.
  • Compliance, Safety, and Standards
    • Be the on‑site enforcer of warehouse procedures, ensuring all standard operating processes are followed without exception.
    • Carry out regular checks on picking accuracy, vehicle loading, and documentation to maintain quality standards.
    • Take responsibility for all material handling equipment and forklift activity, including:
      • Ensuring daily pre‑use checks are completed and recorded by authorised operators.
      • Reporting faults promptly and liaising with maintenance to minimise downtime.
      • Actively supervising forklift use to ensure safe, compliant operation at all times.
  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting
    • Track and report daily operational performance, including productivity, turnaround times, and task completion.
    • Resolve day‑to‑day issues on the floor and escalade more serious operational or safety concerns when required.
Experience and Requirements
  • Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team‑leading role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast‑moving, operational setting.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including stock control and safe loading/unloading practices.
  • Confident using warehouse management systems and handheld scanning equipment.
  • Clear communicator with strong organisational skills.
