Workshop Operative ( Temp to Perm)

THIS ROLE IS CURRENTLY BASED IN WELWYN GARDEN CITY BUT THE WAREHOUSE WILL BE MOVING TO BEDFORD IN FEBRUARY.

Pay: £12.21 per hour

Location: Welwyn Garden City

Salary: £12.21 ph

Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday 8.00 - 16.30

About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated Workshop / Bench Engineer to join our team in Welwyn Garden City. This role focuses on repairing, servicing, and maintaining wheelchairs to ensure service users receive reliable, high-quality mobility support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out repairs, servicing, and maintenance as directed by the Service Centre Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, or Line Manager.
  • Complete all associated paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Ensure all warranty and scrap returns are correctly labelled and processed daily.
  • Adhere to infection control policies at all times.
  • Undertake engineering work, including service, repairs, and refurbishments, in accordance with prescription builds.
  • Support clinical appointments with healthcare professionals when needed.
  • Perform administrative duties as required.
  • Ensure all parts used are allocated correctly through the Stores process.
  • Maintain compliance with Ross Care’s operational procedures and housekeeping standards.
  • Maintain a professional approach — including appearance, tools, and workspace.
  • Uphold accountability for all aspects of the role and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Participate in stocktakes as required.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and instructions.
