Overview

ProsperoTeaching is currently recruiting for tutors in Wakefield! At Prospero, we work with local authorities to arrange 1:1 tuition for students accessing alternative provision. The vast majority of referrals are for English and Maths, with delivery at KS1 – KS3 level. The role example below outlines current details.

Role Details

Location: WF2, within the student’s home.

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: Ongoing

Hours: 3 hours per week

Pay: GBP 20 – GBP 30 per hour

Role: English and Maths tuition for a Year 10 student working below ARE. Expected delivery of knowledge: KS2 – KS3. Experience with SEN is desirable.

Where and When You Will Tutor

Tuition can take place in a number of locations:

  • Within schools
  • Within public places
  • Within students homes

At all locations, there will always be an appropriate adult present during sessions (the student’s parent, carer, or guardian). Tutoring sessions run within school hours (9am–4pm), and clients are flexible on timings. When a role becomes available, the tutor will be contacted to set preferred hours.

Qualifications and Experience

You do not need to be a qualified teacher. A form of higher education is usually expected. Candidates should have some prior experience within education—at least 4 months in a school or educational setting (e.g., teacher, teaching assistant, or in a pastoral/support role).

  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service (recommended but not required; a DBS can be processed through us).
  • References covering 2 years (24 months) of employment, plus references for any work with children or vulnerable adults within the last two years.
