A healthcare organization in Cumbria is seeking volunteers for the Volunteer to Career Ward Clerk Support program at the Cumberland Infirmary. This role includes training and the opportunity to transition into administrative positions within the NHS. Volunteers will assist with various administrative tasks, including answering calls, supporting staff and visitors, and ensuring smooth operations in the ward. Candidates must commit to 60 hours over 5 months, be at least 18 years old, and have the right to work in the UK.
Willow A ward is a 43 bedded inpatient renal/haematology/medical ward based at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle. Patients are admitted directly through the renal or haematology service, Acute Medical Unit or ITU/HDU.

The Volunteer to Career Programme enables you to complete essential mandatory training and a requirement to also complete 60 hours (approx. 4 hours per week) in Wards Willow A & B at the Cumberland Infirmary. On successful completion of this programme you will be interviewed to join our Bank register as a Casual Admin Officer.
The programme provides volunteers with training and support to transition into a career within the NHS. It allows individuals to gain valuable experience and essential transferable skills.
The programme is funded from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is therefore only open to applicants who reside in the Cumberland Council boundary.
The VtC programme is open to anyone who is interested in a career within the NHS. Volunteers who would like to volunteer in our administration offices should be able to commit for at least 60 hours for a minimum of 5 months, be over 18 years old, have the right to work in the UK, and be ready to go through recruitment checks and training requirements.

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.
The changes mean that youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure.
