A nonprofit organization is seeking a volunteer family lawyer to provide advice during client appointments. The role requires attending two online sessions per term, with the flexibility for in-person interviews. Ideal candidates are solicitors or barristers with over 3 years PQE. This opportunity offers meaningful work supporting families in need without casework involvement.
FAMILY LAWYER needed!
We are looking for student-friendly lawyers (Solicitors/Barristers (3 year+ PQE)) to volunteer twice a term online, although interviews can take place in person if you prefer.
We only have one family law volunteer at present, and another family lawyer would enable us to offer more appointments to family clients.
After the client is triaged by the students, we book a 50-60 minute appointment for the client to see a volunteer lawyer. The service is advice only so does not involve casework, although we do sometimes allow a further appointment, if deemed necessary.
The students conduct research and sit in on the interview to take notes. The volunteer lawyer interviews the client and provides oral advice.
We then work with the students on their research and drafting skills to prepare a letter which is then sent to the volunteer lawyer to check whether the contents are correct.
We only ask that you attend two sessions during each term (Autumn and Spring).
