Become a Companion Volunteer with Marie Curie at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital

Marie Curie has a Hospital Companion service offering compassionate individuals the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people at the end of life. Volunteers provide emotional and practical support at Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital

Each week youll support a different person - offering emotional care companionship and a calming presence when its needed most. Youll also help shape this service contributing to its development and impact within the hospital and wider community.

Availability

3 hours per week - Mondays - Fridays 8am - 6pm

What you'll do
  • Spend time with someone each week
  • Offer emotional support and companionship
  • Share helpful info and connect families to local services
  • Help shape a brand-new service that truly matters
  • Complete a basic report after each visit
  • Participate in regular wellbeing sessions team meetings and refresher training
