Job description

Veterinary Surgeon - Aldeburgh, Suffolk £45k-£65k. No OOH • 4-Day Week • Stunning Coastline

If you're looking for a practice where being well‑run isn't a slogan but a daily reality, where clients are loyal, colleagues are supportive, and you're guaranteed to leave by 6pm, welcome to Aldeburgh Vets.

They're a thriving, independent, 100% companion animal GP practice on the beautiful Suffolk coast. Opened in 2020 and now five years strong, they are proud of what they've built: a calm, efficient, modern clinic where excellent medicine and excellent work‑life balance genuinely coexist.

Why vets love working there

They run a smooth ship; the owner Brian Faulkner is a consultant to the profession, so he has to practice what he preaches! Expect clarity, structure, and systems that keep stress low and outcomes high.

  • 20‑minute consults.
  • Brilliant organisation and proactive scheduling.
  • CT, DR X‑ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, in‑house lab.
  • Three theatres (including a dedicated dental suite)
  • Already performing lap spays.
  • Trusted peripatetic surgeon for orthopaedics and major soft‑tissue procedures.
  • RVN's trained and confident with schedule 3 procedures (including CT scanning).

This practice has a 'family feel,', about it, where everyone pulls together when there's work, and relaxes when it's time. Ideas are encouraged, feedback is listened to and integrated if useful, and decisions are made quickly. Collaboration is easy, advice is available, and everyone respects each other's time, including getting a lunch break and getting out the door on time.

The Role
  • 4 days (40 hours) or 3 days (30 hours)
  • 1 in 4 Saturdays (8:30‑12, sole charge)
  • Zero OOH — ever
  • £45k‑65k depending on experience
  • 5 weeks holiday + BH, RCVS + VDS paid
  • Healthshield cash plan and private medical insurance
  • £1,500 CPD (Happily support more when mutually beneficial)
  • They even offer a modern four‑bedroom accommodation to help you settle in.

You'll enjoy a well‑balanced mix of consults and ops. Ops are typically 4 per day, ranging from neutering and dentals to soft‑tissue surgery and lap spays. Efficiency matters, not because they rush, but because they want everyone to finish on time, every time.

About Aldeburgh

Aldeburgh is postcard‑pretty, cultured, relaxed, and wonderfully safe. Think beach walks, boutique shops, world‑class arts at Snape Maltings, coastal hikes, wildlife reserves, sailing, paddle‑boarding, and exceptional fish & chips. The Suffolk Coast & Heaths AONB is right on your doorstep.

So, what's next?

If you're a proactive vet who likes to take charge of cases, communicate well, and work in a practice that's organised and supportive, you're already a great match. Add in great clinical standards, great clients, and a guaranteed work‑life balance, and you'll see why people love working here.

Send your CV, don't worry if it's not up to date. We can't get the whole story in a job ad, so ask any questions. I'll answer honestly, no hard sell.

Work with purpose, live with balance, and join a team that supports you every step of the way
