Underwriter – Renovation Underwriting

Location: London

We have an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter to join our market‑leading team in our London office. You will be underwriting renovation insurance for our advice led delegated authority schemes in a fast‑paced and high performing environment.

If you are a great communicator with a keen eye for detail and the ability for strong decision‑making, this is likely the role for you.

What you will do as an Underwriter:
  • Assist with underwriting profitable renovation scheme business using both manual and automated systems.
  • Underwrite and administer risks (including new business, extensions, and midterm adjustments) and issue accurate, compliant documentation on behalf of Insurers within Delegated Underwriting Authority limits.
  • Handling of incoming telephone enquiries.
  • Achieve a high level of technical and data entry accuracy.
  • Deliver excellent internal and external customer service along with a quality and quantity of work as agreed and expected by the business.
  • Respond to regular business support change and task changes / updates.
  • Attend events, either hosting, or supporting colleagues in developing and fostering business relationships.
  • Conduct all business activities in line with prescribed Group business standards, service standards, and regulatory frameworks.
What we are looking for in an Underwriter:
  • Qualifications minimum 7 GCSE Grade 7 and above. 2 A levels grade B and above. Relevant degree preferred.
  • Cert CII qualification (or higher).
  • Comprehensive underwriting knowledge and ability, preferably with an existing understanding of the specialist renovation and construction market.
  • A working knowledge of the legal and regulatory insurance framework.
  • High level of customer service focus.
  • Inquisitive and analytical thinker with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Highly organised with a focus on objectives, priorities and deliverables.
  • Openness and ability to adapt to business change.
  • Positive and effective identification and recognition of business and customer needs.
  • A high level of commitment, engagement and focus on the business strategies, plans and targets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A continuous self‑starting pursuit of market knowledge and personal development.
  • Strong decision‑making ability.
