Program Summary

KBR supports the operational needs of U.S. armed forces at Morón Air Base in Spain and several bases in Turkey. Our services ensure smooth operations, allowing Air Force and government personnel to focus on their missions. We provide program management, civil engineering, morale, welfare, and recreation support, among other essential services. Awarded by the Air Force Installation Contracting Center, our contract spans a five-year base period with three one-year options, reflecting our commitment to excellence and operational support.

Job Summary

Metal Shop Leadman serves as the senior technical and operational lead for all metal fabrication, welding, and structural metal repair activities under the UABOS contract. The Leadman executes hands‑on technical work while directing day‑to‑day shop operations, ensuring all fabrication and repair tasks meet quality, safety, and compliance standards established by the U.S. Air Force, KBR, contract requirements, and host‑nation regulations. The role supports base sustainment, force protection, and mission‑critical facility readiness across industrial, administrative, and special‑use facilities.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform and lead metal fabrication, welding, cutting, grinding, machining, brazing, and finishing operations on structural steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other metals.
  • Fabricate custom components, brackets, frames, equipment housings, and security/force protection elements (e.g., bollards, barriers, gates) per drawings and specifications.
  • Repair or replace metal components such as doors, frames, railings, canopies, stair systems, metal cladding, roof accessories, and mechanical support structures.
  • Ensure precise measurements, material calculations, and adherence to fabrication tolerances.
  • Serve as the senior working lead for the Metal Shop, assigning daily tasks, setting priorities, and directing shop personnel.
  • Ensure work orders (PM, CM, and minor construction tasks) are executed within schedule and to required quality levels.
  • Coordinate closely with the Structures Shop Supervisor and other shops (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Pavements, Power Production) for integrated work requirements.
  • Maintain accountability of tools, welding machines, plasma cutters, grinders, metalworking equipment, and consumables.
  • Maintain hot‑work permits, welding certifications, and fire‑safety compliance documentation as required.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), establish safe work zones, ensure ventilation and fire‑watch requirements, and enforce use of PPE.
  • Oversee quality control checks and ensure all fabricated products meet required technical and dimensional standards.
  • Provide daily progress reports, material usage, labour estimates, and equipment status updates to the Structures Shop Supervisor.
  • Assist in developing technical estimates, ROMs, and material take‑offs for upcoming work or over‑and‑above tasks.
  • Support internal and external inspections, including Fire Protection, COR/QA, Safety, and Engineering assessments.
  • Help plan and sequence PM and CM activities to minimize mission disruption and ensure timely closure of work orders.
Basic Qualifications
  • Turkish Citizen
  • Minimum 4–5 years of hands‑on experience in welding, metal fabrication, or industrial metalwork.
  • Candidates must hold a relevant Turkish vocational diploma or MYK‑certified metal trades qualification (e.g., Metal Teknolojisi, Kaynak Teknolojisi, MYK Level 3/4 Welder, Sheet Metal Fabricator, or Steel Structures Technician).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a leadman, senior welder, or shop lead in a maintenance, industrial, or base operations environment.
  • Knowledge of safety practices related to welding, grinding, hot‑work, confined spaces, and fire protection.
  • Minimum English Level 3
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on a U.S. military installation or within a DoD/O&M contract environment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms used under UABOS contracts (e.g., TRIRIGA, Maximo, or equivalent).
  • Ustalık Belgesi or Kalfa certification in welding or metal fabrication is strongly preferred, along with documented training in hot‑work safety and Turkish OHS requirements.”

All positions require the applicant to obtain and pass a medical physical that is certified by a doctor.

All positions require a current and favorable Turkish Security background check.
