Overview

Trust Grade Doctor IMT3+ level in Rheumatology. Fixed term for up to 12 months commencing October 2025 to cover potential training gaps. Based at York.

Role and Setting

The successful post holder will work at StR level within the Rheumatology team at York. The post holder will be competent in General Medicine and engage in all duties incumbent in that role. The postholder’s primary responsibility is the day-to-day care of patients under the care of the Consultants in their team. The incumbent will receive instruction in procedures and help with management from senior colleagues. They will be expected to know the patients in detail and present them on ward rounds/handovers.

NB: We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants. The offer of this Trust Grade post will only be made by the Trust if no candidate is found to be appointable to the training programme vacancy by the Yorkshire & Humber Deanery. This is not an approved training position; however there are opportunities described below.

Qualifications
  • All applicants must have full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC, as well as a current ALS certificate and a minimum of 6 months NHS experience.
Support and Development

We have supported a number of our Trust Grades to successfully secure places on the formal training programme and into career grade positions. You will have a designated clinical supervisor and opportunities for support by trained mentors. Regular timetabled teaching sessions will take place to support service-based learning. You will receive the following:

  • Named clinical supervisor
  • Local Induction and information pack outlining internal training courses/opportunities available to doctors in these non-approved training positions
  • Individual Personal Development Plan and annual Appraisal - access to NHS e-appraisal system (funded by the Trust for posts that are six months or longer)
  • Funding and paid time available for study leave (£500 per annum pro rata)
  • Support towards obtaining an Alternative Certificate confirming achievement of foundation competencies to aid future access to a recognised training position
