Job description
Gastroenterology Trust Doctor (ST3-ST5)

We are currently looking for a ST3-ST5 Trust doctor in Gastroenterology at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford covering a Gastroenterology ward and occasional outliers. This is a gastroenterology specific role based on the Gastroenterology ward with in-reach into ED for Gastroenterology patients. These posts will be for 12 months in the first instance.

The role is a Trust Doctor in Gastroenterology. The post involves duties on a full shift basis of 40 hours.

There is no GIM requirement in this role.

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All positions within the Trust working regularly or unsupervised with children or vulnerable adults will require an enhanced DBS disclosure. All other posts will require standard checks. The appointee will be responsible for communication and liaison with other medical and service departments within the hospital and with general practitioners and other agencies, such as district nursing and Social Services.

The appointee will be expected to cover for absence of colleagues (including on call cover) at short notice, e.g. sickness. Cover outside the Rota requiring extra hours of work will be paid as additional work at nationally agreed rates and will be coordinated to be compliant with the relevant legislation.

It is expected that the post holder will play an active part in the training of junior medical staff. He/she will also be expected to supervise, educate and assist medical students.

The post holder should take an active part in clinical audit, journal club and departmental teaching sessions. Regular appraisals will occur and the post holder will be expected to take part in CPD.
