Job description
Overview

To provide a high-quality booking/administrative service to enable the timely scheduling of chemotherapy and supportive treatment for our patients, using Trust electronic booking systems. To ensure that patient booking reflects the patient pathway management and meets Trust performance objectives for outpatients. To support a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, with staff acting as role models to demonstrate the Trust's values and behaviours.

Main duties

To schedule patients for chemotherapy and other non-SACT treatments and procedures, ensuring appropriate appointments are booked for each patient, complying with Cancer Waiting Times targets. This will be achieved by working in partnership with Consultants, Secretaries and Nurses to ensure clinics are utilised to optimum levels, and to provide performance data as requested.

To be responsible for booking, monitoring and organising appointments and cancellations via the electronic booking system for the Sandra Chapman Centre for outpatient treatment, and Ward 17 for inpatient treatments. Liaising with Secretaries and Consultants to ensure booking requests and cancellations are processed within the required timescales and to report capacity pressures to both clinical teams and operational management.

To communicate efficiently and effectively with patients, nursing staff, clinicians, pharmacy and departments within the James Paget Hospital to ensure the smooth running of appointments. To be a role model for the Trust's values by providing a friendly and efficient service for patients and service user enquiries via telephone and face to face.
