Overview

Treatment Room Nurse - Unst (Ref: 227728). Temporary Contract until 31/09/26. Part Time - 22 hours per week. Band 5 - Salary Range £33,247 - £41,424 per annum (pro rata). Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2,482 per annum (pro rata).

Are you an experienced Qualified Nurse who is enthusiastic about your role and wants to make a difference? If so, join us as part of the nursing team delivering care to the population of Shetland in a primary care and community setting. Working predominantly in the Unst Health Centre you will perform treatment room nursing skills for our population. The role of the Practice Nurse is a key member of the practice team. You should be proactively engaged in health promotion, health prevention and health management, and be able to provide comprehensive and personalised care to individuals across their lifespan. You will be directly accessible by the whole practice population.

Responsibilities
  • Perform treatment room nursing duties as part of the Unst Health Centre team.
  • Be proactive in health engagement, prevention and management of health issues.
  • Provide comprehensive, personalised care to individuals across the lifespan and be accessible to the whole practice population.
  • Work independently based in the Unst Health Centre and collaborate with the community nursing team and GP; may work across Primary Care Nursing and the community nursing team when required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Current NMC registration is essential.
  • Commitment to delivering evidence-based care and patient safety.
  • Ability to work independently within the primary care setting; willing to work across teams as needed.
  • Skills in phlebotomy, ECG, ear irrigation, wound management, spirometry, smear testing, and long-term condition management would be advantageous (training can be provided).
  • Full driving licence is preferred and a willingness to work autonomously is essential.
Contract Details

This contract is for a fixed-term period until 31/09/26. The reason for the fixed-term contract is to cover a career break. If applying as a secondment, discuss with your line manager before submitting an application.
