Overview

Job Title: Transport Planner

Location: Luton

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £28-32k

Shift: 4 on 4 off (7am-7pm)

GTS Transportation is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a leading logistics provider for an experienced Transport Planner to join their growing team in Luton. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of transport operations to contribute to the smooth and efficient running of a busy, multi-site logistics network.

Responsibilities
  • Key Responsibilities: Plan daily and weekly transport schedules for vehicles, trailers, and drivers across multiple UK sites.
  • Ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of customer requirements while maximising fleet utilisation.
  • Monitor live operations and proactively resolve any issues such as delays, breakdowns, or driver shortages.
  • Maintain compliance with EU tachograph legislation, the Working Time Directive, and other relevant regulations.
  • Input accurate, timely data into transport management systems.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to provide clear updates.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on service excellence and cost reduction.
  • Provide operational cover and support to the wider transport team as required.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a transport planning or operations role, ideally across multi-site operations.
  • A strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, drivers’ hours, and tachograph regulations.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to build relationships with drivers, colleagues, and customers.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to support out-of-hours operations when required.
