Job description
Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Transport Planner to join our Client's busy depot in Tamworth. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in optimising transportation operations, ensuring efficient transport operations. This position requires strong organisational skills, effective communication abilities, and a solid understanding of transport management principles.

Responsibilities
  • Experience in planning and routing general haulage and pallet network freight
  • Establishing customer requirements and arrange collections and deliveries, within stated timescale.
  • Routing vehicles efficiently both from a time management point of view and also to minimise distance travelled, with regard to weight and size of vehicle
  • Work using traffic management systems and prioritising freight to meet customer needs and the commercial needs of the company. Searching online platforms for loads as required. De brief drivers, manage and monitor their performance escalating any infringements or performance issues to management
  • Ensure all work is carried out with due regard for the health & safety of customers, employees and visitors.
  • Report any accidents, incidents and issues to management immediately
  • Support the company in making sure all licence checks are kept up to date, that the WTD is adhered to, and that drivers have completed the training necessary for their driver DQC Monitor defect reporting and liaise with management
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers, negotiating prices as necessary.
  • Support accounts and customer service teams to ensure that jobs can be invoiced promptly by making sure they priced in a timely manner.
  • All queries or complaints should be dealt with promptly to ensure our customers get the best possible experience
  • Excellent IT skills and experience in TMS/routing programmes CPC and or experience in driver/vehicle compliance.
  • Working hours Full time permanent Monday— Friday 45 hours per week
Experience
  • Proven experience in transport planning or logistics management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation with the ability to resolve issues promptly.
  • Solid computer literacy with an understanding of IT systems relevant to transport operations.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPC would be an advantage and if you do hold a current CPC then the salary will increase to £37000
