Overview

Here at Serco, we deliver a critical contribution to the Criminal Justice System by providing all court custody and escorting services across four regions and seven areas of England. We have a highly motivated and dedicated team of training officers, and an exciting opportunity has arisen to join this team as a Training Officer. The role will be part of the Prisoner Escorting and Custody Services (PECS) contract, operating across various sites and locations. Responsible for assisting in the development, creation, and delivery of comprehensive training solutions in accordance with and in support of all statutory, MOJ, company and department requirements. This will include supporting Initial Training Courses and mandatory refreshers, to drive standards within the operation. You will also provide advice and guidance to line managers on training and development matters as well as conducting training sessions to engage and inspire the audience, helping to maintain a motivated and skilled workforce to fulfil the needs of contractual requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development, creation and delivery of comprehensive training solutions in accordance with statutory, MOJ, company and department requirements.
  • Support Initial Training Courses and mandatory refreshers to drive standards within the operation.
  • Provide advice and guidance to line managers on training and development matters.
  • Conduct training sessions to engage and inspire the audience, helping to maintain a motivated and skilled workforce to fulfil contractual requirements.
  • Complete training evaluation and knowledge gap checks to ensure effectiveness and tangible learning benefits for colleagues.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Creativity to identify, develop and deliver informative and appropriate training programmes, adapting delivery to different methodologies.
  • Excellent and confident communication skills to foster positive professional relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Level 3 award in education and training, or willingness to work towards one.
  • Use of Force instructors' qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Full UK Driving Licence; willingness to travel to sites across the PECS and SJITT contract, which may include overnight stays.
  • Security clearance checks and Home Office approval as part of the recruitment process; satisfactory employment references.
  • Disability Confident – as applicable per policy.
