A leading defence technology company is seeking a Training Equipment Mechanical & Electrical Maintainer in Torpoint. You will be responsible for the level 2/3 maintenance and repair of Royal Navy training equipment. Ideal candidates should have a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, and be capable of achieving Security Clearance. Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance and repair of trainers and simulators is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of Royal Navy training equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical defects using diagnostic tools.

About the role

The ‘Training Equipment Mechanical & Electrical Maintainer is responsible to the Regional Training Equipment Manager (Southwest) for the level 2/3 maintenance and repair of various trainers, simulators, and training delivery support equipment in the Southwest of England with occasional travel to other areas as required.

Skills and Experience
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding of Royal Navy and RFA electrical and mechanical equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical diagrams.
  • BS 7671 18th Edition.
Desirable
  • IT competent.
  • Capable of achieving Security Clearance (SC)
  • Full UK Driving License.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a wide range of Royal Navy training equipment, including motors, pumps, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical defects by interpreting diagrams, using diagnostic tools, and testing equipment.
  • Implement planned maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failure.
  • Responsible for updating the Maintenance tool with appropriate updates following any maintenance activity (currently TABS Ethos).
  • Ensure all work follows appropriate safety regulations including DefStan’s and RN BR’s.
  • Responsible for ensuring that escorted visitors and contractors use appropriate PPE.
  • Be ‘Responsible for championing and fostering a culture of “Safety First” and EHS compliance.
  • Responsible for a pro‑active and continuous improvement attitude.
  • Act as the ‘Project Engineer’ for the RAST training unit.
  • To carry out any reasonable tasks as directed by the Training Equipment Manager which may occasionally arise.
