Trainer in Engineering (Fabrication & Welding) (EL826)

Salary: circa £43,748 (per annum)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 per week (including some evening classes up to 9pm)

Location: Crewe

We are seeking a Trainer in Engineering (Fabrication & Welding) to join our team at our Crewe Campus. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and inspiring Trainer to provide learners with an outstanding learning experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Train on a range of courses in Engineering (Fabrication & Welding)
  • Undertake other duties including tutorial support and associated administrative tasks
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons in line with College policies
Person Specification / Requirements
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering (Fabrication & Welding)
  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths
  • Knowledge and experience in MIG, TIG, MMA (Stick) and oxy‑acetylene welding techniques
  • Industry relevant experience in Fabrication & Welding
  • Experience of teaching and assessing on a range of courses up to Level 3
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in work and the learning environment
  • Up‑to‑date occupational experience
  • Enhanced DBS check

We welcome applications from Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and from current industry practitioners who do not have a teaching qualification. Anyone joining the College will be part of a Teacher/Trainer Development Programme which provides staff with a range of support and training based on previous experience and individual need. The programme will offer a range of support and development opportunities, including inductions related to all College systems and processes, an assigned curriculum mentor and regular 1‑2‑1 support from the Quality team. Industry experts who do not currently hold a teaching qualification will be supported through our ‘Introduction to Teaching at Cheshire College South & West 12‑week programme.
